Tingvall Trio - Birds

To mark the 20th anniversary of the ensemble, the Tingvall Trio is presenting itself and all its fans with a new program: "Birds". Since its foundation, the Hamburg-based trio has always performed with the same line-up. In addition to the pianist and namesake Martin Tingvall on piano, there is Omar Rodriguez Calvo on double bass and Jürgen Spiegel on drums and percussion. The three musicians come from different countries and, despite their different backgrounds, have found a common but independent musical level. Together, the Tingvall Trio has managed to write a success story in two decades that is unique in German jazz. Several ECHO awards as Ensemble and Live Act of the Year, a total of six Gold Jazz Awards, two Impala Awards for international sales, a whole series of No. 1 jazz chart albums and four high rankings in the German Top 100 album charts. With the "Birds" program, this development has now reached its temporary climax.

Birds were the inspiration for the new program. They are the musicians of nature, whose music unfortunately all too often no longer reaches us. In addition to catchy pieces such as "Woodpecker" or "Hummingbird", there are wonderful ballads such as "The Day After". Rock'n'roll, romance, sophistication - the Tingvall Trio combines all of these in their playing as a matter of course. Together they play melodies that you first have to dare to hear in their beauty, but which come across as disarmingly authentic.
