Tingvall Trio - Birds - Tour 2024

In the organizer's words:

The Tingvall Trio needs no further introduction. Anyone who belongs to the handful of jazz artists from Germany who have also achieved an international breakthrough, who, in addition to three ECHO JAZZ AWARDS, have also achieved GOLD status with all their studio releases, is eagerly awaiting their new release.

"Dance" is the title of the new work and the trio takes the listener on a journey around the world, allowing the most diverse forms of dance to flash up as an expression of emotion.
Martin Tingvall describes the genesis: "The idea for "Dance" came when we were rehearsing "Cuban SMS", one of the first new songs, and we actually found it difficult to stay seated.

There was so much rhythm and power in the music. Personally, I can't dance at all, but it just carried us away. And so the idea for an album full of dances was born."

Despite the recognizability of the typical Tingvall Trio sound, many of the compositions are given surprisingly new guises: alongside oriental tones in "Arabic Slow Dance" or reggae rhythms in "Ya Man", you can also discover Latin American sounds such as in "Bolero" or "Spanish Swing". But of course, despite all the energy and joy of dancing, the successful trio also allows for a few quiet moments full of depth, such as in "Det Lilla" or sadness in "In Memory".

"Dance" is an exciting album on which the three can show a variety of facets. Martin Tingvall (p), Omar Rodriguez Calvo (b) and Jürgen Spiegel (dr) sound more mature and harmonious than ever on the new album, and you can imagine how much fun the trio has playing these pieces.
