Deutz is praised by some as the most beautiful side of Cologne. Not only because you can look out over the unique backdrop of the old town from the Rheinboulevard or because the Deutz harbor is being developed as a chic residential and commercial area. Deutz is also known as Boomtown because of the Cologne Trade Fair, the Köln-Arena, the Tanzbrunnen with Rheinpark, the Poller Wiesen and RTL.
But there are also many stories to tell about other hot spots in Deutz. Of the Prussian Rheinkehlmauer, which was of course built as a defensive wall, of St. Heribert, where the bones of St. Ursula were allegedly sawn up and shipped, of the best chops in town from the Lommerzheim house, of the Düxer Bock and the old synagogue on Reischplatz. The Riphahn buildings at the end of Deutzer Freiheit also deserve a mention.
