Absent Voices is a 10-channel live audio performance based on Jana Winderen's recordings from the hidden depths of the water and the darkness of the night. Jana Winderen will present this piece live as part of TUNE on 26.10.24. Afterwards the performance will remain in the auditorium as a sound installation.
Absent Voices contains recordings from both the tropics and the Arctic Ocean, from the North Pole to the equator and also very close to her studio north of Oslo. Close to the coast and far out at sea, the artist has encountered a wide variety of creatures and weather conditions over the past 20 years.
She records from boats, ships, the coast and her own garden. She archives and processes the sounds in her studio with a multi-channel loudspeaker array. The sounds are processed on site in the auditorium, where visitors can experience the performance and installation.
