Time for a party!
We are celebrating 10 years of Theater-club MELO!
That is special.
That's why we're throwing a big party.
And we're founding the dance club MELO:
The first inclusive party club in Leipzig!
What does a good party for everyone need?
Music that everyone wants to dance to!
A good mood!
Everyone can wear wild and colorful costumes.
Maybe couples will find each other at the party?
Anything can happen.
With you, the theater stage becomes a dance floor.
Celebrate with us. Dance with us. Let us surprise you.
Welcome to the MELO dance club!
Important:
There will be loud music and light changes.
But there is no flashing light.
What is Club MELO?
We are a theater club for people with and without disabilities.
Our group is for adults of all ages.
Some have been with us from the very beginning.
So for 10 years already!
We put on our own play every year.
We rehearse with professionals at the Theater der Jungen Welt.
We dance and make music together.
Sometimes we have to talk first.
Most of the time, something surprising happens.
Club MELO is a project with Lebenshilfe Leipzig.
The Free State of Saxony and Aktion Mensch
give money for the project.
- Language: German spoken language
- Accessibility: wheelchair spaces and various seating options available, an integrated quiet room with hearing protection is available, translation into German sign language, audience interaction possible throughout the auditorium
- Notes on sensory stimuli: It can get very loud. There are rapid changes in lighting (no flashing lights) and it gets very dark in the theater. Many things happen during the performance, which can be overwhelming. There are special effects, for example when balloons fall from the ceiling.
TURBO - Inclusive dance and theater festival for young audiences
January 30 to February 02, 2025
TURBO - that's the name of our drive for more inclusive theater, our participatory workshop for explorers and our utopia factory for change. Because we think so: Theater is for everyone!
On four consecutive festival days, we ask each other the following questions: How does inclusive theater for young audiences work? Turbo-drive or turbo-snail? What do we need more of and what do we leave behind?
In the second edition of our inclusive dance and theater festival, we enter new destinations into our navigation system and pass the steering wheel on to the people it affects the most: experts with disabilities and young people were our jury and decided together what will be performed on stage during the festival days. We do research and think about it: What happens to theater when it is designed for all the senses right from the start?
We invite you: To guest performances from German-speaking countries - by, for and with people with disabilities, to a symposium and various workshops. Celebrate with us at our breakfast party and experience an inclusive dance and theater program for young audiences with TURBO.
