W hat brings people together in everyday life? Where do they connect culturally beyond the boundaries of language? The answer is as obvious as it is simple: in a hairdressing salon! In Sirma Kekeç's performative hairdressing salon, people, cultures and spaces intertwine. While the artist cuts hair, her daughter Jelka creates fashionable long hairstyles. Elfin Açar, a painter, colleague and neighbor of Kekeç's family, serves Turkish appetizers and Çai with oriental dub and Turkish pop from the can. Reading and creative activities bridge the waiting times. The result is a temporary neighborhood meeting space about the necessity of hairdressing, which not only interweaves everyday life and art, but also integrates Turkish culture from Elfin Açar and Sirma Kekeç's father's home country into Bremen's Neustadt district.
