Un_erhört. Wie sich die Vulva heute Gehör verschafft!

In the organizer's words:

Although the vulva as an external part of the female* sex has gained more and more presence and visibility on a motivational and linguistic level over the last ten years and has even found its way into pop culture as a T-shirt motif and in music videos, it is still barely present in public perception and in art. The exhibition Un_erhört. Wie sich die Vulva heute Gehör verschafft! therefore brings together contemporary artists, mainly from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, who have dedicated themselves to the positive re-appropriation and visualization of the vulva. Through thematic complexes such as empowerment, sexuality, menstruation, cultural history and identity, the artistic positions are part of the centuries-long process of revaluing and reappropriating the vulva, with the aim of reducing shame and taboo and creating empowering moments. The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated booklet.
