9.09.2024: Kathrin Philipps-Bussau, Technical Assistant Crustacea Section
The Crustacea collection at the Hamburg Zoological Museum comprises over 800,000 animals, making it the largest crustacean collection in Germany. Over 1000 individuals are added every year. I have been in charge of the collection as a technical assistant since 2007 and will give you an insight into my daily work with loans, looking after visiting scientists from all over the world and caring for the collection. You will get to know particularly impressive crustaceans from the deep sea, from anchialine caves and from 19th century research expeditions. I will introduce you to our collection as an archive of life, lending library and research site for students and scientists.
