Anatomy of a union campaign: In the no-frills style of direct cinema, a directing duo dissects the US labor struggle in the 21st century in all its shades. The smell of hot dogs, burgers and weed fills the air outside New York's largest Amazon warehouse. The Amazon Labor Union has unconventional strategies to win the favor of the corporate giant's workforce. They want to establish the first union in a US Amazon plant. To win over the weary workers after their eleven-hour shifts, the comrades must not only stand up to the company's attempts at intimidation, but also overcome interpersonal tensions to fight for better working conditions for all.

BRETT STORY (*1979 in Canada) works as a director and producer. Her documentary The Hottest August (2019) won several awards. STEPHEN MAING (*1975 in the USA) is a documentary filmmaker and producer. For Crime + Punishment , he received a Special Jury Award at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Social Issue Documentary.

FILMFEST HAMBURG will take place from September 26 to October 5, 2024. Over 120 productions from all over the world will be shown as world, European, German or Hamburg premieres.
