Part 1 | Tax law - basic knowledge for artists & creatives

As a freelance creative, you are also regularly concerned with the topic of taxes and have (repeated) contact with the tax office. Whether it's tax registration, VAT reporting, advance tax payments or annual tax returns, if you understand the basics of what it's all about and how the processes work, you'll find it easier to deal with taxes and the tax office. This seminar will provide you with general, understandable and appropriate information and give you basic tax and legal knowledge. Of course, the special features of the artistic sector, such as VAT exemption options, will also be discussed. Last but not least, there will be enough time for your individual questions.

Part 2 | (New) legal forms for the arts

Artists and creative professionals come into contact with questions of company law in two situations in particular as part of their professional activities:

1) When it comes to collaborating with others, permanently or temporarily, e.g. when implementing a joint artistic project. A lot has to be regulated here, including the question of who has what powers, rights of representation and liability when and where.

2) Anyone who deals with funding programs for the financing of artistic projects has certainly come across this formulation at one time or another: "Only legal entities are eligible to apply." In plain language: many funding pots remain closed to individual artists. Yet it is also possible for artists to set up a legal entity and thus benefit from exclusive funding. But which forms of company are even possible or make sense? What requirements must be met to set up a company and what obligations will I have in the future? How high are the costs? Does a non-profit company form also make sense?" These and many other questions will be answered in the second part of the day.
