CHECK YOUR DOGMA! – Ausstellung, Kunstpreis und Vorträge

In the organizer's words:

The DA! Art Award is Düsseldorf's secular art prize. It has been awarded every two years since 2018 under a different theme and aims to inspire artists to critically examine religion, esotericism and irrationalism. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros. The nominated works will be exhibited at the Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf from September 7 to 28, 2024.
___________

CHECK YOUR DOGMA! is the theme of the DA! It is our call to artistically address the longing of many people to unconditionally be on the "right side". Along the question of what the "right side" is, the fronts are increasingly hardening. Ideology rather than facts is increasingly dominating the debate.
Room for ambiguity and the recognition that you were wrong: Which statement or authority should not be doubted or questioned? On which topic do I claim to be universally valid? Where do I become intolerant? When in doubt, am I open to the better argument? Do I remain skeptical of my own convictions and principles? With which idea or narrative do I become uncritical? Do I have double standards?
CHECK YOUR DOGMA! invites artists to go in search of their own irrefutable, dogmatic or rigid beliefs and to present them artistically and critically. Or to encourage the viewers of their works to critically question their own dogmas.
