Wars all over the world make reconciliation the most relevant topic of our time. But no one knows what reconciliation actually is. Does reconciliation mean a purely theological concept? Or the recognition of different perspectives? How does reconciliation actually work in theory and what are the experiences from practice? Or is it all just theater?
Theater Bonn and the Bonn Center for Reconciliation Research at the University of Bonn are bringing reconciliation to the stage and bringing art and science together in the series of discussions VERSÖHNUNG - EINE UTOPIE? bringing art and science together. Lecturers and associates of the Center for Reconciliation Research regularly give an insight into their fields of research.
Actors and actresses from the ensemble accompany the lectures with literary and scenic contributions.
Reconciliation - a utopia
Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Soeffner will kick things off by addressing the question that gives VERSÖHNUNG - EINE UTOPIE? its title. According to Soeffner, people living in harmony with each other and with nature is both extremely desirable and highly improbable - reconciliation as a utopia can mean the transformation of conditions of war and enmity into free relationships of recognition that even have the characteristics of friendship. However, the more complex wars and conflicts are, the more complicated 'reconciliation research' becomes.
