In the organizer's words:

Towards Other Openings: An Attempt is the title of a text contribution that Daibert wrote for an art education publication in 2022 and which now takes place in the form of a listening session and a meeting - i.e. Part II - at the Temporary Gallery.

The event will begin with a listening session of Raphael's piece Cotorradio, a sonic and conceptual exploration of sounds of belonging (based on an encounter the artist had with Cologne's resident parakeets when he lived in the city in 2019), followed by a reading of a text Raphael is writing during his residency.

Interested in shifting perspectives without leaving aside the present moment in which we live and what (else) surrounds us, the meeting invites us to tune our ears (to see) and eyes (to listen), using the perspective of artistic work: the poetic possibility of not only imagining differently, but also acting differently.

Homemade pão de queijo, a Brazilian snack made from cheese and manioc flour, will be offered to everyone. We would be delighted to receive a small donation :)

The new guest of our residency program is Raphael Daibert (he/him) - Brazilian curator, artist, teacher and researcher. He lives in Berlin. In his practice, Raphael focuses mainly on artistic research and collective anti-hegemonic art projects.

Daibert currently works as a research assistant and lecturer at the Institute of Philosophy and Art Studies at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, where he is doing his doctorate as part of the DFG Research Training Group "Cultures of Critique". He did his Master in Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute (DAI) and works there as a member of the admissions committee and as a speaker for the final year students' presentations.

Raphael is a founding member of the curatorial collective Cruising Curators in Berlin - currently part of the nGbK working group "Dissident Paths: Walking Together as a Method" (in collaboration with ReRouting) in 2025/2026 - and co-founder of the anti-racist working group Third Space: Disordering the Mess, an artistic-educational project that emerged in 2021 as part of the project "Group Dynamics - Der Blaue Reiter and Modernist Collectives" at the Lenbachhaus in Munich.
