In WAS SOLL'N WIR DENN MACHEN OHNE DEN TOD, melancholy and joie de vivre have equal importance. A story about a special old people's home and its residents who "interpret what cannot be interpreted - read what has never been written" and about what old-age dementia feels like from the inside. Through sound and image montages and eavesdropped dialogues, Elfie Mikesch subtly, even tenderly, depicts the world of people who are little noticed from the outside and thus pleads for possibilities of individual self-realization beyond all age limits.
