To mark the release of LONGLEGS with Nicolas Cage, we are showing the eternal Nicolas Cage cult film WILD AT HEART by David Lynch and Laura Dern in the female lead role as part of (Dis)Harmony.

Marietta pursues the love between her daughter Lula and her lover Sailor with endless hatred and glimmering jealousy. Determined to go to extremes, she sets a killer on Sailor, who has just been released on parole. Lula and Sailor flee in their 65 Thunderbird. On their restless odyssey through the sultry south of America, Lula and Sailor find themselves in a constant state of burning desire, alternating between aggressive lust and breathless eroticism. Also in their luggage: bizarre memories of the past. The search for warmth, love and security ends in a bizarre nest in Texas. Between drunks and whores, killers and the mentally ill, he meets his former lover Perdita, who delivers him straight to Marietta's killer. Lula and Sailor's love cannot withstand the destructive force in this world of drop-outs. But help comes from an unexpected source...

When David Lynch's Wild at Heart had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1990 and was awarded the Palme d'Or, the festival's main prize, a few days later, the 1990s had irrevocably begun in cinema.

With the film adaptation of Barry Gifford's novel Wild at Heart: The Story of Sailor and Lula, David Lynch dared to tackle a classic road movie for the first time and thus decisively expanded his own cosmos once again. The escape of the two lovers Sailor (Nicolas Cage) and Lula (Laura Dern) from several killers, who have been commissioned by Lula's mother (Diane Ladd) to kill Sailor and bring Lula back, is little more than a thread on which Lynch has strung a whole series of smaller stories and individual scenes like pearls. They all come together to form an unprecedented trip that resembles a ride through a particularly hellish ghost train and is also reminiscent of Dorothy's journey through the land beyond the rainbow in The Wizard of Oz.
