With the "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" exhibition, the Hessisches Landesmuseum is bringing a selection of the best nature photographs from 2024 to Darmstadt with over 80 works.
The exhibition is based on the competition of the same name organized by the Natural History Museum in London, which has been awarding prizes to the best nature photographs every year since 1965.
"Wildlife Photographer of the Year" is considered the most prestigious nature photography competition in the world and is characterized, among other things, by the fact that amateurs can participate alongside professional photographers. A jury of international experts selects the best works from around 50,000 submissions, which then go on a world tour as an exhibition.
The impressive photographs not only show the animals in their natural habitat, but also draw attention to the impact of humans on the environment. The aim of the competition is to increase public interest in nature and species conservation and to stimulate debate about environmental issues.
Visitors can expect unique animal portraits, fascinating plant images and spectacular underwater shots.
