Wilhelmine (open air)

Wilhelmine likes to stop the world and look at it calmly. Her "TODAY", as she calls her daily Instagram stories, is full of moments in which she has filmed hectic everyday situations in slow motion. When Wilhelmine sings, you can immediately hear her Berlin mouth. It speaks from her direct words. You can hear it in the attitude of her voice. Wilhelmine says everything she thinks. And her "everything" is not just light. Her songs reflect her freedom and being in love as well as her experiences with addiction and resentment.

In her single "Feuervogel", the Berlin musician sings about the aftermath of a destructive relationship and the attempt to meet again with distance. Can friendship flourish where fire once raged? "I know I'm enough" - anyone familiar with Wilhelmine's previous songs such as "Solange du dich bewegst" or "Komm wie du bist" knows how important this topic is to her - and has an idea of how groundbreaking the relationship covered in "Feuervogel" was for her self-discovery. "I lived with someone for a long time, in a relationship that wasn't good for either of us," says Wilhelmine about the autobiographical inspiration for her new song. "We both wanted different things and instead of getting closer, we drifted apart. But my song here is about the years after a relationship. The years of separation and the challenges of sharing furniture/house or maybe even children or pets."

At the beginning of an attempt to get back together, there was "wounded pride", says Wilhelmine. "How do you manage not to act out of hurt feelings and emotions?" Building on this, she dedicates her song to the question of whether and how it is possible to build "a new, different connection to each other" after a failed relationship. Because even if the combination of fire and wind couldn't work in the relationship, Wilhelmine is still fascinated by the characteristics of the firebird to this day: "For me, the word means both temperament and a need for freedom, contrasts in themselves."
