Love and hurt, closeness and distance, admiration and repulsion - all this is contained in the love affair of one of the most famous couples in German-language literature. Ingeborg Bachmann is a celebrated poet, star of Group 47, and the legendary 1954 Spiegel cover has made her iconic. Max Frisch, another successful author, is busy staging his play "Biedermann and the Arsonists" when the two meet for the first time. In the spring of 1958, Frisch wrote to the young author about how enthusiastic he was about her radio play "The Good God of Manhattan", and Bachmann's reply in June of the same year marked the beginning of an exchange of letters that lasted from the time they met until several years after their separation. The young director Susanne Frieling stages this intimate and literary love story as a moving portrait of two great writers.
