Staatstheater meets Filmladen: Googoosh. Made of Fire

Premiere and film talk with director Niloufar Taghizadeh Googoosh, Iran's best-known singer and actress, has been an icon and pioneer of Iranian pop culture for over 50 years. Her first appearance as a 2-year-old was followed by an international career with performances all over the world and hits in Persian, French and English. With the Islamic revolution in 1979, everything changed at a stroke: she was banned from performing, imprisoned and put under house arrest. After 21 years of isolation, she managed to leave the country and make an unexpected comeback in exile. Her moving story made her a voice of resistance and a symbol of hope.
