Woyzeck von Georg Büchner

In the organizer's words:

The simple soldier Franz Woyzeck can barely keep himself and his girlfriend Marie, with whom he has an illegitimate child, afloat. To earn a little extra money, he works as a servant for his captain and makes himself available for questionable experiments by an unscrupulous doctor. When Marie begins a secret affair with the drum major and the voices in Woyzeck's head get louder and louder, he sees only one way out of his dilemma: Marie must die.

Georg Büchner left his 'Woyzeck' as a fragment. To this day, it is still not clear in which order the 27 short, independent scenes should be placed - a fact that repeatedly invites new arrangements and interpretations. Woyzeck: humiliated victim of a merciless society? Mentally unstable murderer?

Peter Wallgram, who recently directed García Lorca's 'Blood Wedding' at Schauspiel Wuppertal, will take on this exciting case.
