Winter magic on the Zollverein ice rink: an unforgettable experience for all ice skating fans

From 4 December 2024 to 5 January 2025, the 150-metre-long ice rink on the grounds of the Zollverein coking plant will be transformed into a dreamlike winter paradise. Along the impressive backdrop of coke ovens and chimneys, skaters can enjoy one of the most spectacular ice skating opportunities in Germany.

A highlight for the winter season
The Zollverein ice rink is an integral part of many people's winter leisure plans - and for good reason. The atmosphere is particularly magical in the evening, when the light installation by Mark Major and Jonathan Speirs bathes the imposing industrial backdrop in atmospheric light. Right next door, the winter village beckons with cozy stalls offering hot drinks and snacks to warm you up.

Festive opening and special events
The Zollverein Foundation has prepared a varied program for the Grand Opening on 7 December: From 10 a.m. to 12 noon, there will be half-price tickets, an exciting photo campaign and an impressive performance by the Essener Jugend-Eiskunstlaufverein e.V. Another highlight awaits visitors at the ice disco, which will take place on December 14, 2024 and January 4, 2025. Night owls can skate under the starry sky to the latest beats. Those who prefer sporty activities will enjoy curling - there is a separate area right next to the ice rink that is ideal for group activities.

Ice fun for everyone
Whether beginner, advanced, professional or people with limited mobility: The Zollverein ice rink offers barrier-free options for everyone. The ice rink is accessible for wheelchairs, rehab buggies and gliding aids, while children can use auxiliary penguins to take their first steps. Special care is taken during the first hour of operation so that everyone can enjoy the magical atmosphere to the full.

The Zollverein ice rink is the perfect place for winter fun in a unique setting - an experience not to be missed in the coming season!

On 14.12.2024 and 04.01.2025 the ice disco will take place from 20:00-24:00 and the regular ice rink operation ends at 20:00.
