An evening of talks about growing up in reunified Germany

The new federal states are facing special challenges and unique opportunities - especially the young generation. Young people in eastern Germany are well on the way to dynamically changing and advancing their region. They are facing challenges such as higher unemployment rates and demographic change with courage and a spirit of innovation. The historical and cultural influences of the GDR and reunification are shaping a unique identity that is laying the foundations for future-oriented change.

With our panel of high-caliber experts, we look to the future together: How do young people in East Germany define freedom and identity? What professional and personal opportunities do they see? And how can equal opportunities and digitalization shape the future of this dynamic youth growing up between tradition and modernity? As part of this event, two passages from the books of our authors Anne Rabe and Valerie Schönian will be read. The readings will serve as a starting point for discussion with you.
