Anne Klaas | The small format

Anne Klaas, born in Sauerland, discovered her passion for photography at an early age and has taken part in many seminars over the years. She is currently enrolled as a guest student at the Düsseldorf Art Academy.

New York, Paris and Düsseldorf. Each city has its own character to be discovered. This statement is expressed by photo artist Anne Klaas in her works. As she says, she undertakes her journeys by motorcycle and thus has the opportunity to stop at every location to capture what she discovers.

The artist from Düsseldorf is showing works from a different genre of her photography for the first time. The special feature here is the unusual perspectives that are typical for her. By emphasizing details and creating tension through reduction, she stimulates the viewer's imagination and enables different interpretations.

According to the artist, reduced motifs can have a strong emotional impact. They trigger a deep, intuitive reaction in the viewer that is not necessarily generated by complex images. The minimal image creates a new work of art.

Michalis Papadopoulos | Since And Then

Michalis Papadopoulos was born in Cyprus and grew up with the traditions of Greek culture and mythology. During his art studies in Athens, he learned the professional skills to realize his themes - from the abstract to the fantastically figurative. What the pictures have in common is the expression of color, colorfulness and radiance.
Thematically, there is a concentration on people, in different life situations or in different historical contexts. Overall, the pictures on display range from rather concrete depictions with mystical references to highly faceted stories broken down into their smallest components. Michalis Papadopoulos makes use of symbolism borrowed from ancient cultures, from fantastic arcs of suspense or from everyday observations.

Anne Klaas and Michalis Papadopoulos met at Kunsthaus Mettmann in 2023 and have maintained a friendship based on artistic exchange ever since.

This is their first joint exhibition.
