From the oldest works of art in southern Baden to medieval Freiburg: the Archaeological Museum in the Colombischlössle, built in 1859/61, takes you on a journey through the millennia.
Whether Paleolithic female statuettes, precious objects from Celtic princely tombs, evidence of Roman achievements or regional finds from the early Middle Ages - the originals are vividly presented. Models and interactive stations illustrate the living conditions of each era. Changing special exhibitions on particular themes round off the repertoire.
The museum offers a varied program for adults, families and school classes. People of all ages can experience archaeology at a Roman fashion show, on costume tours or in the experimental Stone Age workshop.
