Who we are

The Book Pirates inspire children and young people with stories

It all started in a tent in 2002, but since the summer of 2011 we have been at home in a historic wooden house in the middle of Lübeck's old town. This is where the Bücherpiraten children's literature house is located.

A patron of the book pirates bought the house and had it renovated. She makes it available to the book pirates for a symbolic rent of one euro per month.

The house at Fleischhauerstraße 71 is now home to all of the book pirates' projects.

There is also a studio community here in the Kinderliteraturhaus where stories are created: the Geschichten-Fischer.
