The Junge Schauspiel was founded in 1976 as a branch of the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus and was given its own venue in an old factory building in the northeast of Düsseldorf in 1993. Today it is the largest children's and youth theater in North Rhine-Westphalia and one of the most renowned in Germany. It has two stages (300 and 99 seats), a permanent ensemble of eight actors and actresses (plus guests) and produces six new productions per season with an audience of around 60,000. The Junge Schauspiel is invited to guest performances and festivals in NRW, Germany and all over the world.
