At the Pelmke Cultural Center, we bring together people from different backgrounds, age groups and interests to create a vibrant and diverse cultural community in Hagen. Our self-image is based on the values of openness, creativity, tolerance and community.

Cultural development:

We believe in the power of art and culture to promote individual and collective development. Our cultural center offers space for artistic expression in the fields of music, art and literature/words. We support both established artists and emerging talent.

Diversity and openness:

At the Pelmke Cultural Center, we value the diversity of cultures, ideas and perspectives. We are open to people of all ages, backgrounds and lifestyles. About the location:

The Pelmke became a hub for alternative art, music and cultural exchange - after the supporting association was founded in 1986 and the city officially handed over the listed building for use. The idea was to create space for creative development and social dialog. Since then, the Pelmke has developed into an important cultural center, attracting local artists and creative professionals and offering a diverse range of events such as readings, workshops, concerts, exhibitions, etc. over the years. Today, it is an important part of the local cultural landscape, especially in the areas of poetry slam, rock music and political education, and a platform for innovative projects. We carry out around 4-6 larger projects per year that are funded by public grants, such as theater productions, cultural education projects with schools, open-air festivals or scholarship programs for artists.
