The state parliament is the heart of democracy in North Rhine-Westphalia, the open house of the 18 million people of our federal state. Since the state parliament elections on May 15, 2022, 195 members of parliament have been sitting here. They belong to one of the CDU, SPD, Green, FDP or AfD parliamentary groups.

The state parliament passes laws, monitors the government and is a forum for political debate. André Kuper is the President of the state parliament. He is the highest representative, conducts business and upholds the dignity of the state parliament.

In the heart of Düsseldorf, the state parliament is an open house for all citizens. This is demonstrated by the unique, open architecture of the parliament building and the high number of visitors: around 100,000 people come to the building on the banks of the Rhine every year.
