If you're interested in a wide variety of literature, the Literaturhaus is the place to go here in Cologne. What's particularly exciting is that everyone can get their money's worth here: from debut authors to Nobel Prize winners, from poetry to a thousand-page epic, you'll always find something to excite you! Just spend an evening with like-minded people and get to know your favorite works or authors better.
And if you haven't been that enthusiastic about literature so far, you should just drop by an interesting lecture or event and maybe let yourself be convinced :-)
In the location's words:
The Literaturhaus Köln was founded in 1996 (in 2021 we are already celebrating our 25th anniversary!). It arose from an initiative of Cologne citizens. Today, the association has more than 700 members, making it one of the literature houses with the most members. This is certainly also due to the 150 or so events it organizes each year. From Nobel Prize winners to debut authors, from poetry collections to thousand-page epics: we invite the most exciting authors of the season, deal with the most exciting reading, and present the most interesting personalities in both tried-and-true and newly conceived formats.
Since the summer of 2007, a separate section has also been devoted to literary offerings, workshops and readings for children and young people. The Young Literature House was the first of its kind in Germany.
