Villa Stuck is a nationally and internationally renowned venue for encounters with art from the 19th to the 21st century. An important collection of works by Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) and international exhibitions on art around 1900 as well as modern and contemporary art make Villa Stuck a unique place to experience art.

Franz von Stuck's villa (built in 1897 /1898) combines luxurious room settings, a representative artist's studio and private living. The Villa Stuck was celebrated by his contemporaries as a "modern", albeit idiosyncratic, sensation. At the 1900 Paris World's Fair, the furniture the artist had designed especially for his villa was awarded a gold medal. A new, spacious studio building completed the artist's villa in 1915. At the back of the villa is an artist's garden that combines Pompeian models with 19th-century works of art.

The overarching principle of the artists' villa is the Gesamtkunstwerk, in which life, architecture, art, music and theater are combined. Against this background, the current programs of the Villa Stuck focus on the artistic and cultural diversity of the 19th to the 21st century. Artists' villa, temporary exhibitions and collections enter into a fruitful dialogue. The exhibitions, which change several times a year, a wide-ranging program of events, and FRÄNZCHEN, the children's and youth program, open up the museum in all directions. Villa Stuck thus becomes a source of inspiration and artistic exchange as well as a storehouse of knowledge - a place open to all visitors.

Since 1992, the Villa Stuck Museum has been a museum of the City of Munich and, as such, a foundation of the City of Munich donated by Hans Joachim and Amélie Ziersch.
