Speicher XI is located in Bremen's Überseestadt, one of the largest urban development projects in Europe. Überseestadt is a location of opportunity and change. Here, sophisticated renovated sheds meet architecturally interesting new buildings. New and lively working and living environments are emerging alongside historically evolved commercial and port structures. As a university of art and music, the HfK Bremen is playing a key role in this development and is providing impetus for the development of a new creative quarter.

With a length of 403 meters, Speicher XI is the second longest building in the city. In addition to the University of the Arts, Speicher XI is also home to the Bremen Harbour Museum, the Bremen Center for Building Culture, the Speicher XI Cultural Forum, the Überseestadt Information Center, architecture and engineering offices as well as other companies and agencies.

The HfK Bremen extends 216 meters over segments 4 to 7 and 8 to 16. In addition to the Department of Art and Design, a large part of the HfK's administration is located in Speicher XI. On each of the four floors there is a spacious corridor that connects the individual studios, workshops, administrative offices and a canteen. The university radio station Radio Angrezi and the Flut gallery are also located in Speicher XI and provide a field of experimentation for students.
