DOK Leipzig takes place every year in the fall and is unique in its combination of documentary and animated film. During the festival week, we show around 250 short and long films and extended reality (XR) works in Leipzig.

This year from October 27 - November 2, 2025, DOK Leipzig will be present throughout the city. Numerous cinemas and venues will become festival venues, and we also show films free of charge at Leipzig Central Station every year.

Watching films together and talking about films together - DOK Leipzig is above all a place for dialog and debate. Post-screening discussions with the filmmakers, program talks and master classes encourage an exchange about film as an art form and about artistic engagement with the world.

The films we select for our program provide insights into familiar and unfamiliar worlds, take up current political discussions or make social systems and their imbalances visible. At the same time, their creative styles reflect new trends in documentary and animated film.
