LET YOURSELVES BE DELIMITED

In 2026, the Mannheim Summer will be dedicated to "dissolving boundaries" and thus looking to the fringes - and beyond. It helps that the Nationaltheater's opera house itself has moved from the center to the periphery, from the elegant theater in the city center to OPAL, the interim venue between thoroughfares, sports stadiums and commercial areas. Here we will realize a festival programme that dares to look to the margins, the margins of the stage arts, the suburbs of the opera business. And we promise: It's going to be fun!

INTO THE FRAY

Like at a funfair, a "turmoil" is to be created that juxtaposes the most diverse positions, regions and demands. The audience will be part of quite unheard-of encounters: Encounters between the familiar and the strange, the entertaining and the unwieldy, the fairy-tale and the realistic or the masterful work of art and the found object. Encounters with W. A. Mozart, of course, our ancestor, who received valuable inspiration in Mannheim in his day - and fell in love. - And hopefully with you too!
