Join us for a unique evening that opens with an a cappella performance by Donia Massoud, the celebrated Egyptian singer, actress, and music researcher. Renowned for her powerful interpretations of Egypt’s nearly forgotten musical heritage, Donia has spent over a decade traveling across Egyptian villages collecting sacred and profane songs. Her captivating performances blend concert, theatre, and performance art—breathing new life into songs once on the verge of disappearing.

Having performed on world-renowned stages including the Cairo Opera House, Institut du Monde Arabe (Paris), and Jerash Amphitheater, Donia now brings her voice to the forefront in a stripped-down format that highlights the stories behind the melodies.

Drawing from Arab folktales and set to the rhythms of Egyptian pop, this film reimagines the form of “One Thousand and One Nights.” Told through playful conversations between Scheherazade and ghosts of former lovers, it unfolds as a personal love diary—sensuous, tender, and defiantly queer.

Produced by Aflam Wardeshan and Amerikafilm, Shall I Compare You to a Summer’s Day? is a bold cinematic ode to desire, storytelling, and the enduring power of memory.

ندعوكم إلى أمسية مميزة تتمحور حول فن الحكاية – بالصوت، بالغناء، وبالصورة.

نبدأ بعرض غنائي بصوت دنيا مسعود، الفنانة والممثلة والباحثة الموسيقية المصرية. على مدى أكثر من عشر سنوات، جابت دنيا القرى المصرية وجمعت أغانٍ منسية، مقدسة وجريئة، أعادت إليها الحياة بصوتها وأسلوبها الخاص. في هذا العرض الذي تقدّمه دون آلات موسيقية، يتحوّل صوتها إلى أداة رواية، تسرد بها حكايات الحب، الفقد، والجسد.

ومن الحكاية المغنّاة، ننتقل إلى الحكاية المصوّرة. في الفيلم الغنائي المعاصر “بشتقلك ساعات” للمخرج محمد شوقي حسن، تظهر دنيا مجددًا – هذه المرّة بصفتها شهرزاد، الحكواتية الأسطورية من “ألف ليلة وليلة”. الفيلم يقدّم يوميات حبّ كويريّة، تتداخل فيها الأغاني الشعبية مع ذكريات العشّاق وأشباحهم. هو عمل جريء، حسيّ، وحنون، يحتفي بالرغبة، والقصّ، وقوة الذاكرة.

ما يجمع بين دنيا في العرض والفيلم هو فن الحكاية – الحتوتة التي تنتقل من الجسد إلى الشاشة، من الصوت إلى الصورة، وتحمل في طيّاتها حياة كاملة لا تموت.
