Since 2018, the eight-member ensemble has skillfully woven soul, hip-hop, and funk with a thread of jazz, consistently presenting a wide musical spectrum ranging from intimate ballads to danceable manifestos against the climate crisis and other contemporary issues. Their brand new album "My Meadow" (out on June 14th) tells the story of a utopian world that serves as a compass for personal and societal transformation through its imagination, capturing the zeitgeist: How does one find direction in an increasingly complex world? "If you gave in to all complexity, you’d never start no war" is the hopeful message. Yet, even with lighter themes, the pieces, some inspired by Afro-Cuban rhythms, provide plenty of room for dancing.
