Palazzo Label Night is finally back at Flucc Deck. We are exited to present an amazing line-up: sound-wizard Al Wooton from the UK will deliver a DJ set, vienna-based duo Parajekt are presenting their new album live and Inou Ki Endo rounds up the evening with an eclectic selection of forward thinking electronic music.
Al Wootton has been a key figure of the UK underground music scene since the late 2000s, retiring his previous moniker in 2019 he moved towards producing more minimal, dub influenced leftfield techno records and psychedelic percussion tracks on his own label TRULE and on labels such as Sahko, Livity Sound, Optimo Trax, Berceuse Heroique and Zam Zam Sounds. Along with renowned percussionist Valentina Magaletti, Al formed the project Holy Tongue as an outlet for their mutual love of post-punk and experimental dub music. This project has developed into a live band and has performed all over Europe. As a DJ both in clubs and his radio residencies on Kiosk Radio and Rinse FM, Al’s selections are extremely broad, but with decades of experience in the booth he effortlessly ties these many strands together. His live performances consist of reinterpreting his tracks using the mixer as an instrument to bring a psychedelic, ritualistic, percussive slant to minimal electronics and a sub-heavy dub sound system approach.
Inou Ki Endo searches for shared sensibilities across time and space. Filtering communal sounds from past and present, she moves beyond the concept of genre, instead approaching sound and rhythms as shifting intensities capable of affecting listeners emotionally, intellectually, and physically. Rooted in the global music underground, her sets draw on experimental approaches, and are shaped by the specific contexts and spaces in which they take place.
The music of the duo Parajekt is created on electronic instruments. Drum machines, samplers, modular synths, and effects devices all culminate in a tape recorder, whose limitations invite them to work with great musical and sonic precision. The resulting pieces serve as the first layer and as a sound score, which is then overwritten, mixed, and refined with dub techniques in a subsequent step. Elements inspired by electronic beat music, musique concrete, and noise merge in a musical performance that brings the studio action onto the stage and places it front and center.
