Walter Rodney, ein Historiker und Aktivist der antikolonialen Bewegung, galt als staatsfeindlich und als Bedrohung der Interessen Großbritanniens. Er wurde 1980 in Guyana von der Regierung ermordet. Es dauerte 41 Jahre, bis die Regierung Guyanas die Rolle des Staates bei seiner Ermordung anerkannte. WALTER RODNEY: WHAT THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW zeichnet das Leben des Aktivisten ab - von Guyana über Barbados, Jamaika und Tansania bis hin zu den Vereinigten Staaten und dem Vereinigten Königreich. Die Filmemacher Daniyal Harris-Vajda und Arlen Harris erzählen die Geschichte eines Mannes, der in der breiten Öffentlichkeit kaum bekannt ist, dessen Ideen jedoch noch heute soziale Bewegungen weltweit inspirieren.

Walter Rodney, a historian and activist in the anti-colonial movement, was considered subversive and a threat to British interests. Murdered in 1980 in Guyana by the government, it took 41 years for the Guyanese government to acknowledge the role of the state in his murder. From Guyana, to Barbados, Jamaica, Tanzania, the United States and the United Kingdom, WALTER RODNEY: WHAT THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW traces the life of this activist. Filmmakers Daniyal Harris-Vajda and Arlen Harris tell the story of a man who is little known to the general public and who still inspires social movements today.
