In diesem Workshop verstehen wir einen spielerischen Zugang als Methode, um Lebendigkeit, Risiko und Unmittelbarkeit in der Performance freizusetzen. Durch körperliche Aufgaben, Improvisation und Partnerarbeit laden wir die Teilnehmenden dazu ein, sich ganz auf den gegenwärtigen Moment einzulassen und Bewegung nicht zu „zeigen“, sondern zu handeln.

Wir arbeiten mit einfachen, klaren Anweisungen, die komplexe Zustände erzeugen: das Wechseln zwischen Kontrolle und Loslassen, Entscheidung und Zufall, Individualität und Beziehung. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf Handlungsfähigkeit — darauf, wie jede*r Performer*in Entscheidungen trifft, Raum einnimmt und Aufmerksamkeit hält.

Ausgehend von unserer langjährigen kollaborativen Praxis versteht der Workshop Bewegung als ein lebendiges Ereignis: reaktionsfähig, performativ und ständig im Entstehen begriffen. Er ist zugleich rigoros und spielerisch, präzise und offen, im Körper verankert und zugleich von Vorstellungskraft aktiviert.

Seit 2004 arbeiten die in Tel Aviv lebenden Niv Sheinfeld und Oren Laor in Leben und Kunst zusammen und verbinden zeitgenössischen Tanz mit Performance und Theater. Aus unterschiedlichen Hintergründen kommend — Tanz und Theater — haben sie eine eigenständige Sprache entwickelt, die körperliche Präzision, emotionale Ehrlichkeit und konzeptionelle Tiefe vereint.

Ihre Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit Identität, Partnerschaft und Zugehörigkeit und verwischen dabei häufig die Grenzen zwischen Persönlichem und Politischem. In intimen, minimalistischen Settings laden sie gleichermaßen zu Reflexion und Teilhabe ein.

Zu ihren Arbeiten zählen Two Room Apartment (2012), The Third Dance (2018), Art Attack (2021), Rendez-Vous (2022) und Disco, Baby! (2024). Im Jahr 2020 erhielten sie den Landau-Preis für Darstellende Künste.

Ihre Arbeiten wurden international präsentiert, unter anderem bei Tanz im August, Montpellier Danse, dem American Dance Festival, Julidans und The Place. Darüber hinaus unterrichten, begleiten und kuratieren sie und waren künstlerische Leiter am Tmuna Theatre sowie beim Intimadance Festival.

WORKSHOPS

In jedem einzelnen Workshop wird über 3 Tage mit den Künstler*innen zusammengearbeitet.

Der Workshop von Oren Laor & Niv Sheinfeld ist ALL LEVEL - dh. offen für alle Erfahrungsstufen. Durch Variationen in den Übungen können sowohl Anfänger:innen als auch fortgeschrittene Tänzer:innen mittanzen.

SOMMERAKADEMIE

Jedes Jahr findet Mitte Juli die SommerAkademie der TanzFaktur statt – Kölns internationales Festival für zeitgenössischen Tanz. Das groß ausgerichtete zweiwöchige Festival ist eine Plattform für hochkarätige nationale und internationale Künstler*innen, Projekte und Kollektive.

Neben den Performances bieten Workshops für Profis und Tanzinteressierte Möglichkeiten zum Austausch zwischen Tanzschaffenden und Publikum.

Playfulness as Practice - Liveness and Agency in Performance

08–10 July 2026, 5:30–7:30 pm

In this workshop, we focus on playfulness as a working tool — a way to unlock liveness, risk, and immediacy in performance. Through physical tasks, improvisation, and partner work, we invite participants to engage fully with the present moment and to act rather than “show” movement.

We work with simple, clear instructions that generate complex states: shifting between control and release, decision and accident, individuality and relation. The emphasis is on agency — how each performer makes choices, takes space, and holds attention.

Drawing from our long-term collaborative practice, the workshop approaches movement as a live event: responsive, performative, and constantly unfolding. It is both rigorous and playful, precise and open, grounded in the body while activated by imagination.

Niv Sheinfeld & Oren Laor

Since 2004, Tel Aviv–based Niv Sheinfeld and Oren Laor have collaborated in life and art, merging contemporary dance with performance and theater. Coming from different backgrounds — dance and theater — they have developed a distinctive language combining physical precision, emotional honesty, and conceptual depth.

Their works explore identity, partnership, and belonging, often blurring the personal and political through intimate, minimalist settings that invite both reflection and participation.

Their creations include Two Room Apartment (2012), The Third Dance (2018), Art Attack (2021), Rendez-Vous (2022), and Disco, Baby! (2024). In 2020 they received the Landau Award for the Performing Arts.

Their work has been presented internationally, including Tanz Im August, Montpellier Danse, American Dance Festival, Julidans, and The Place. They also teach, mentor, and curate, and served as artistic directors at Tmuna Theatre and Intimadance Festival.

WORKSHOPS

In each workshop, participants work intensively over the course of 3 days with the artists.

The workshop by Oren Laor & Niv Sheinfeld is ALL LEVEL, meaning it is open to participants of all experience levels. Through variations in the exercises, both beginners and advanced dancers can further develop their individual level.

The TanzFaktur SommerAkademie - Cologne's international festival for contemporary dance - takes place every year in mid-July. The large-scale two-week festival is a platform for high-calibre national and international artists, projects and collectives.

In addition to the performances, workshops for professionals and dance enthusiasts offer opportunities for dialogue between dance professionals and the audience.
