7 relaxed cafés in the Univiertel-Munich - Rausgegangen
Where can I find the best cake around LMU and TU? Where can I work undisturbed? Which café is vegan? There are several cozy cafés in the university quarter. We reveal our favorites.
Café Jasmin
The upholstered armchairs and sofas in Café Jasmin invite you to linger. In a warm and cozy atmosphere, you can have breakfast in the morning, lunch here and stop by for a coffee and cake break in the afternoon. But Café Jasmin is also a good place to go in the evening and is open until 1 am. So it's also the best place for an after-work drink. The menu offers you a selection of healthy and freshly prepared dishes. And the vegans among you will also find what they are looking for here.
Gartensalon
The Gartensalon is a small oasis in the middle of the university quarter. A little off the beaten track, the café is hidden away in the Amalienpassagen and is waiting to be discovered by you. In the Gartensalon, the quality of the products is paramount. For a number of years now, only vegetarian and vegan food has been served here, all dishes are prepared on site and the organic food is sourced from regional farms. The breakfast dishes are particularly delicious.
Konditorei Kaffee Schneller
80799 München
Cake, coffee and floral wallpaper - what more could you want? Konditorei Kaffee Schneller doesn't have any chic or hipster decorations; the cozy atmosphere and the quality of the products are impressive. Incidentally, the patisserie is a real Munich institution, having supplied the Maxvorstadt district with delicious, fresh pastries since 1884. Whether it's marble cake, cheesecake or cream cake, the cake counter offers you a wide selection. This is the perfect place for an afternoon coffee & cake meeting with your best friend, fellow students or parents.
Die Waldmeister
None München
A quiet atmosphere, lots of wood and attention to detail - some people still know the café under the name "Waldmeisterei", but it has since been renamed "Die Waldmeister". But nothing has been lost in terms of quality. The café has been located in Barer Straße since 2014 and enriches the breakfast selection in Maxvorstadt. Waldmeisterei is a great place for breakfast (especially at weekends, when they serve scrambled eggs), but we would also like to recommend the changing daily specials. The café is perfect for long conversations with friends, who can all be seated at the large wooden tables.
Man vs. Machine
80799 München
Man vs. Machine in Schellingstraße has some of the best French rolls in Munich and the coffee is also truly excellent. This is probably due to the carefully selected beans, which are roasted and processed in the in-house roastery. You'll have to trust us when we tell you that the coffee at Man vs. Machine is simply extremely good. This goes out to all the caffeine-addicted students out there: support your local coffee roaster!
Katzentempel München
Here you can not only eat, but also cuddle, an unusual combination. In addition to the friendly staff, six cats also "work" here. The Katzentempel is Munich's first and so far only cat restaurant. Petting animals is supposed to reduce stress and calm you down - perfect for stressed-out students! In addition to the company of furry friends, the restaurant also serves carefully selected, organic food and drinks. All the food at the Katzentempel is plant-based, making it a completely vegan restaurant.
Mary's Coffee Club
80799 München
At Mary's, you can not only work well thanks to the super stable Wi-Fi, but also capture your visit in pictures. In terms of ambience and clientele, the place is very instagrameable. The café sees itself as a breakfast place - which is why it serves "Breakfast All Day". Despite its very central location in the middle of Maxvorstadt, the chances of finding a "workplace" are quite good. Except perhaps at the weekend, but even the students should leave their laptops closed.
