CSD Pride Week
From 3 to 11 July, CSD Pride Week 2021 will be celebrated in Munich with a decentralized demonstration day, a colourful cultural stage on the Theresienwiese and many other events throughout the city. It will be colorful, it will be loud and that's a good thing.
You've all noticed. When the Hungarian team visited Munich last week for the European Championship match against Germany, there was quite a stir in the run-up. UEFA rejected the city of Munich's request to light up the stadium in rainbow colors in solidarity with the LGBTIQ+ movement. However, this only achieved one thing: the entire city was lit up in the colors of the rainbow that day. This sent out a strong signal of solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community. It is still not a matter of course to come out as queer without danger - not even in Europe. The new so-called "homosexual law" in Hungary, the brutal clashes at this year's Pride in Istanbul or the discriminatory policies in Poland (unfortunately) make this clear.
This makes it all the more important that Munich will be transformed into a single rainbow for nine days, from July 3 to 11, when CSD Pride Week 2021 takes place. You can look forward to a wide variety of events. The biggest event will be the decentralized demonstration day on 10 July, when over 60 locations will be campaigning for political demands and visibility for LGBTIQ*s. On the same day, the Theresienwiese will also be a colorful place when the CSD Kulturbühne moves into the Resls Kollektivgarten . On Sunday, July 11, a CSD bike demo will follow, all in compliance with Corona and safe.
Many small events also await you. At Hellabrunn Zoo you can learn about queer people as part of nature on several dates, the Kunsthalle München offers exclusive diversity-themed tours of the new exhibition Erwin Olaf. Unheimlich schön and at the end of Pride Week there will be a queer church service in St. Paul's Church. You can also look forward to numerous film screenings, workshops and discussion panels. You can find the whole program here.
