12 small bars for a good evening

Neuhausen is "on the up", as we have always known. Good proof of this is the new The Hood Bar. A small but very fine bar that impresses with its pretty interior and even better drinks. Perfect to start or end the evening. There's a high risk of getting lost here, because you'll feel welcome as a neighbor - even if you're not from the neighborhood. You'll find pretty much everything on the menu - from Aperol Spritz and beer to unusual cocktails.

If we're talking about small bars, then the Barroom should definitely not go unmentioned - after all, it's the smallest cocktail bar in Munich! The tiny bar is located in Haidhausen and only has a handful of seats. But that doesn't matter, because the focus here is on serving good drinks anyway. Bar manager Emanuele Ingusci knows how to do this: with his cocktails, he catapults you on a journey into the world of rum from the Caribbean, Latin America, Panama, India and Australia. By the way: if you want to learn how to mix your own cocktails, you can also book cocktail courses (for a maximum of six people) here - whether you are a beginner or already a little more experienced.

A trip to Corleone is always a good idea! Located directly on Sendlinger-Tor-Platz, this bar not only offers drinks, but also art: the bar is the perfect place to go for creatives and artists - the bare walls are decorated with projections and there are changing DJs in the evenings. The Corleone can get crowded due to a lack of space (it's only 30 square meters!), but the atmosphere is still relaxed. Another plus point: the prices are affordable compared to some other bars in the neighboring Glockenbach district - so you can stay longer.

Wine, Portuguese drinks and even Portuguese beer: that's what awaits you at Maroto in Glockenbach. The tiny bar not only offers Portuguese Superbock, but now also has a pub garden, which provides a little more space, at least in summer. Otherwise it's a case of: Be patient and fight your way to the bar! But that's not difficult here, because the crowd is cool and thanks to the DJs who play here from time to time, you're guaranteed not to get bored while waiting.

There are numerous bars in Maxvorstadt - but only a few are as relaxed as Cabane. Nothing is stylish here: vintage metal signs hang on the walls and the people who come here for an after-work beer during the week or for a long night out at the weekend are not in any particular age group. And it is precisely this relaxed atmosphere that is the good thing here. The menu is also in keeping with this: instead of a huge selection of fancy creations, the drinks are very relaxed. We love that!

If it were up to us, there should be many more bars like Mucki&Floyd in Glockenbach. During the day, you can nibble on coffee, cake or other dishes here and enjoy an aperitivo or two in the evening. The atmosphere here is wonderfully informal: whether you're there for a meal or a toast, everything here feels as uncomplicated as in your own four walls. This is probably due to all the heart and soul that goes into Mucki&Floyd: Because everything is homemade and made with regional ingredients.

Schwabing is also a great place for a cozy toast: In the Salon Irkutsk. There isn't much space in the salon, but that's what makes it so charming. In addition to classics such as beer, wine and spritz, the Russian pub is of course known for its selection of vermouth and vodka specialties, which owner Daniel and his team will be happy to advise you on. As well as drinks, if you get hungry, you should definitely try the pelmeni, which is available in both meat and veggie versions. Mega delicious!

Small but nice, and so much so: If you want to treat yourself to something alcoholic, then we recommend an evening at Zephyr, where you can enjoy first-class drinks. Just watching them being prepared at the bar is worth it, because here they don't just focus on taste, they also create drinks that are real works of art. So instead of always just drinking Helles or Aperol Spritz, it's really worth trying something a little more unusual - at the latest since our first visit to Zephyr, we can definitely confirm this.

++ Temporarily closed ++There's far less going on in the Au than in neighboring Glockenbach - but that doesn't matter, because if you want to focus on quality rather than quantity, you'll find a really good place to have a drink in the Au. Every Friday and Saturday, a small bar oasis opens its doors here too: Carlito's Minibar really deserves its name, because this bar is almost as tiny as the barroom in Haidhausen. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid-back, the drinks are good and the bar manager loves what he does - you can tell as soon as you walk in.

You can have a special evening here: At Maria Passagne, this is really anything but a cliché, because the entrance to the bar alone is extremely unusual - you can only get in if you ring the bell! The room, bathed in reddish light, is decorated with lots of unique pieces on the walls, which looks quirky but not kitschy. The next surprise awaits when you look at the menu. Not only drinks are on the menu, but also really good sushi - which, to be honest, we wouldn't have guessed at first. But you can never go wrong with a drinking mat.

Fancy an aperitivo? Then you should try the Americano on the corner of Fraunhoferstrasse and Reichenbachstrasse. You've come to the right place if you long for the Italian lifestyle. The small bar only has limited seating inside - so it's all the better that you can also enjoy yourself outside and watch the hustle and bustle of Fraunhoferstraße. In addition to the eponymous Americano, the bar serves first-class Negroni, Frangelico Sour and the summer classic Aperol Spritz. Day drinking is also excellent here, as the bar is also open during the day and provides you with small snacks in between.

Yes, at Gärtnerplatz, there's always something going on. No wonder the Robinson Kuhlmann Bar - located directly on Gärtnerplatz - is always very busy. It's not always easy to get a seat in this small bar, but it's worth a try: according to the motto "it escalates anyway", after numerous (very tasty!) Negronis, Pisco Sours or Liquid Cocaines, things can get a little wilder here. If you can't get a seat, just take something with you for the road!
