5. Sinfoniekonzert

In September 2022, the young pianist Lukas Sternath caused a sensation - he won first prize in the ARD Music Competition and was also awarded seven special prizes. Together with chief conductor Antonello Manacorda and the KAP, he will perform Schumann's Piano Concerto for the first time in Potsdam and Berlin. The music is characterized by dancing verve, virtuoso dialogues and delicate cantilenas, sometimes chamber music, sometimes symphonic. Bartók was a neo-tonalist of his time who managed to shape an entire generation with his individual musical language. His early orchestral music is inspired by Strauss, and the dance scene from "Ariadne" could even have been the inspiration for the lively, light character of his second orchestral suite.
