Tenebrae has already confirmed its outstanding reputation as one of the best professional choirs in England at the 2018 Musikfest opening: Source-clear singing as well as perfect intonation, balance and homogeneity allow the audience to experience the power, but also the intimacy of the human voice to the maximum. Now the ensemble returns to Bremen with a beautifully crafted collection of musical farewell pieces, combining iconic choral works from the 19th century to the present day. With the eponymous work "A Prayer for Deliverance", American composer Joel Thompson responds to the unrest during the coronavirus pandemic and the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd in the USA. In the second half, Herbert Howells' a cappella Requiem is certainly one of the most moving works in the English choral repertoire. This promises to be a heart-wrenching evening of songs that deal with sleep, farewell or death, giving Tenebrae the opportunity to combine their flawless, flawless vocal culture with their feel for the sensuality of music.
