As part of the Baila España festival by steptext dance project and Instituto Cervantes
Aleix Martinez Juan, long-time dancer at the Hamburg Ballet, presents his current choreography JOC (Catalan for play) with his company ManNera Danza, an exploration of the concept of the art work of Spanish painter Joan Miró. Four dancers and a musician celebrate the art of reduction and the composition of the moment with live percussion and dance. Dance in particular is a creation that can only be experienced in the moment, its traces fleeting impressions. JOC revives Joan Miró's vision of the act of creation.
"Joan Miró (1893 - 1983) draws in the sand on the shores of the Mediterranean, armed with a long stick as a pencil, proving that any surface is suitable for drawing and making art and that the true artist can always start anew in the face of the approaching wave that seeks to destroy every trace of his work. His vision, rooted in the earth but linked to a universal dialog, leads to a cosmos in which sensations and physical escapes open the door to a lost, almost forgotten world. A world of infinite possibilities through which we all traveled in our childhood."

The interaction between the dancers and Arnau Obiols - the musician develops his musical signature through direct dialog, exploration and contact with nature and organic elements such as stones, wooden sticks and almost forgotten Catalan folk songs, instruments and sounds - creates a choreographic cosmos and a perception in which everything has a rhythm, a specific time and space, a philosophy. ManNera Danza makes it possible to be present at the moment of artistic creation.
