ANDREA LÄSST SICH SCHEIDEN

Andrea, a policewoman in provincial Lower Austria, wants to end her unhappy marriage and start a new job as a detective inspector. After a birthday party, her still-husband gets drunk and runs out in front of her car. In shock, Andrea commits a hit-and-run. Then she is astonished to see someone else willingly accept her guilt: Franz, a religious teacher and dry alcoholic, believes himself to be the culprit and is thought to be so by everyone else in the village. While Franz starts drinking again and staggers unerringly towards his downfall, Andrea tries to cover her tracks.

With his second directorial work, the exceptionally talented Josef Hader (WILDE MAUS, VOR DER MORGENRÖTE) proves once again that the tragicomic is the best depiction of what is called life.
