Everyone should know about human rights, because they belong to everyone. Angelika Nußberger uses real court cases to explain what human dignity, freedom, equality and security, the right to equal treatment and the protection of privacy mean - illustrated by book designer Rotraut Susanne Berner. In conversation with editor Ulrich Nolte, it becomes clear why human rights have to be renegotiated time and again.

Angelika Nußberger is Professor of Constitutional Law, International Law and Comparative Law at the University of Cologne. She was a judge (2011-2019) and Vice-President (2017- 2019) at the European Court of Human Rights.

Rotraut Susanne Berner, illustrator, book designer and author, is world-famous for her children's books and has received numerous awards, including the Hans Christian Andersen Prize (2016) and the German Youth Literature Prize for her complete works (2006).
