Ausstellungseröffnung: Polare Landschaften – Fotografien von Beate Köhler | Kulturhaus Walle Brodelpott ZU GAST im Hafenmuseum

Beate Köhler presents motifs from two trips to Svalbard in the Arctic, starting in Longyearbyen. The series of photographs, taken in summer, under the midnight sun of the Arctic and in the polar nights of winter, is an impressive interpretation of the light conditions and the unique landscape of the far north.

The works were created as part of a study of the element of water and the creation of portraits of bodies of water. Water is a central element of the Arctic landscape, whether in its frozen state as snow and ice or in liquid form. The photographs capture the essence of this element in its many manifestations and enchant with their magical aura.
