Bertram Jesdinsky: Mondkalb mit Reibekuchen

In the organizer's words:

Myths, little men and motors - nothing from this world (or outside it) escapes Bertram Jesdinsky's artistic cosmos. Space and time are bent and curved, pictorial surfaces are overpopulated and everyday objects are given a strange life of their own. The pictorial worlds of the artist, who was born in 1960 and studied at the Düsseldorf Academy, are pulsatingly full of life. In 1980, together with artist friends, he founded the Anarchistische GummiZelle, which became known for its performances and experimental films. Bertram Jesdinsky took his own life in April 1992. He left behind a body of work consisting of paintings, sculptures, music and films. In 2022, Thomas Schütte dedicated an extensive exhibition to him in his sculpture hall in Neuss. On January 24, 2025, Galerie Thomas Schulte will open the exhibition Mondkalb mit Reibekuchen, which takes a look at the artistic life and work of Bertram Jesdinsky. The show illustrates the great autonomy of his work, which is reflected in the variety of media used as well as in the individuality of his world view.
