Beyond Molotovs - A Visual Handbook of Anti-Authoritarian Strategies, with Börries Nehe and other co-authors

Authoritarianism works much more on the level of emotions than on the level of arguments. How can we counteract authoritarian affects? "Beyond Molotovs - A Visual Handbook on Anti-Authoritarian Strategies" brings together 50 richly illustrated contributions on strategies against authoritarianism by initiatives, activists, artists and researchers from all over the world. The focus is on the sensual and emotional dimensions of their strategies. From the collective art and aesthetics of feminist movements in India, Iran, Mexico and Poland to revolutionary songs in Syria, subversive internet art in Hong Kong, sewing collectives in Russia and anti-authoritarian board games, the contributions open up new perspectives on moments of resistance, subversion and creativity.

The book Beyond Molotovs was published in spring 2024 by transcript-Verlag, edited by the IRGAC - International Research Group on Authoritarianism and Counter-Strategies of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung and the collective orangotango.

Gustavo Robles is a fellow at IRGAC and co-author of Beyond Molotovs. He focuses on the subjective dimensions in the current phase of neoliberal governmentality. He was an associate professor at the National University of La Plata (Argentina) and has carried out research stays at various German universities. In addition, he is an activist in various political and cultural collectives in Argentina and Germany that deal with issues such as human rights and working conditions of immigrants.
