Kukoon

In the location's words:

We are a collective of seven people. Together we want to create an open space for culture, communication and culinary delights. Our goals are collective, self-determined work and solidarity-based economic activity. Kukoon is a space where we meet and exchange ideas as people. We are a socio-cultural center in Bremen's Neustadt district: a place for culture makers and culture lovers, a space for criticism and politics, but also for entertaining evenings and colorful societies. We want to work and act in flat hierarchies or preferably without hierarchies; we value transparent structures, self-generated collective decisions and cultivate solidarity with one another. If we generate a financial surplus, we use it to strengthen our collective or other groups in order to improve our programming and make it available to more people. Racism, nationalism, sexism and other forms of discrimination have no place with us!

We are a non-profit organization. All members of our collective earn the same hourly wage. Whether in catering, bookkeeping, program planning, public relations, room and house maintenance or for administrative tasks. Our two main bodies are the Gesellschaft für bunte Steine mbH and the Verein für Bunte Kombinationen. Our aim is to enable participation for many people: both in the events that take place and in food and drink. For example, it is possible to give another person a "piggyback" meal, drink or admission to an event. We offer a price range for our meals: People who pay more allow people who have less money to pay a little less. The average is what we need to cover our overheads. The ingredients for our meals come mainly from organic farming, are mostly vegan and always vegetarian.
